Sell-A-Bration Sneak Peek!

I have been playing with a few sets from the Sell-A-Bration catalog. These sets (and so much more!) are available FREE starting January 5th, with any $50 purchase. Such a great deal!!!!!

I am always in need of masculine birthday cards, so the first set that I got was the Sky is the Limit set. It is perfect! I love the main image, the airplane. So classic.

Now, I have to admit, I was searching Pinterest for ideas, and ended up pretty much CASEing (Copy And Share Everything) this  card. Wouldn’t you know it, I can’t find the original. So if anyone knows, please let me know so I can give credit.

I started with a piece of whisper white cardstock, and using my aqua painter, washed the background with Island Indigo. I didn’t do it perfectly, there are some areas that are lighter, some darker, and it doesn’t cover the background entirely. You can’t see it too well in the photo, but it is there! Gives the illusion of the sky.

I inked up the clouds stamped with Island Indigo, then stamped once on a scratch piece of paper, then stamped onto the background. This gives a lighter impression, the image won’t be as bold as if you stamped directly.

I then stamped the airplane onto another piece of whisper white with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and fussy cut it out. I did do a slight wash of the Island Indigo again over the open areas of the airplane, where I imagined the sky could be seen. It is adhered onto the background with dimensionals.

Next I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment (love that font!).

I cut two thin pieces of paper, one from Island Indigo, the other from the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper (from the Sell-A-Bration Catalog as well! FREE!!). Banner trimmed the edges and added a few clear sequins from the metallic sequins pack and there you have it! The whole thing is mounted on an Island Indigo card, top folded.

All ingredients for this card are listed at the end of the post

The next card uses a CUTE set from Sell-A-Bration called Honeycomb Happiness. Love love love this little chick!

Don’t you want to rub his belly? lol

This was a simple one!

I stamped the chick on Crushed Curry cardstock, using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Fussy cut him out. Went over his little beak with my aqua painter and some Daffodil Delight ink. I just wanted a little bit of color there. Then using my Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Marker and my aqua pen, I added a bit of color to his feet. I just brushed the aqua pen onto the brush top of the marker to pick up a bit of color. I didn’t want it too bold. It worked perfectly!

I put the chick aside, and did another wash on some Whisper White cardstock, using Marina Mist for the sky and Garden Green for the grass. I did it pretty lightly, I didn’t want the background to stand out too much, yet I needed something to ground the chick.

I then stamped the balloon image from the same set and colored in the ribbon with Garden Green ink and my aqua painter (can you see how it is one of my most used tools?)

I adhered the chick down, so it looks like he is holding the balloon.

I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of whisper white and cut the end using the Triple Banner Punch. Cut another piece of Mint Macaron and punched the end as well, then adhered them together. Final touch on the banner were 3 Crushed Curry Candy Dots (from the Regals collection). I swear! In person they are straight! I used my ruler and all lol I don’t know why they look slanted here, unless it was the angle I took the photo?

I trimmed a small piece of paper from the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper pack. It is two sided, which worked perfectly for me! I cut it into three strips and adhered them down, with the center being the opposite side of the paper.

The final touch? A Honeycomb Embellishment in Mint Macaron. These are SO cute! They give a fun 3D look to your projects. Easy for mailing too. They come folded in half, nice and flat, with adhesive on both sides. When mailing, just adhere one side and include a note to the receiver to unfold and adhere the other side.

Here is a look from the top so you can see how 3D they are…

Fun right??

Everything was adhered to a top folding card in Mint Macaron. I don’t care what anyone says, that is one of my favorite colors ever!

Hope you enjoyed today’s cards! Let me know if there are any questions.

Christmas Recap

Well folks, Christmas is over. All of that rushing around, last minute plans, frantically wrapping the day before… well, if you are me that is 😉

I had an amazing Christmas. I was spoiled silly, but the best part was getting to spend time with our families. We hosted Christmas eve for my fathers side of the family. So much fun! My cousin has an adorable 4 month old baby girl, I got some good cuddle time in with her.  After the family left, my husband & I took my son and his girlfriend to see Star Wars. It was our second time seeing it, but the kids hadn’t yet. SO GOOD!

Christmas morning my husband and I had some peaceful time together, opening gifts and relaxing. It was perfect! Then onto his parents house where my mother in law made a delicious Rumchata french toast. Have you ever had Rumchata? Delicious in coffee, over ice, poured directly into my mouth… it is all good! We spent the morning opening gifts, laughing, and enjoying each others company.

We snuck home for a quick nap before heading to my moms for Christmas dinner. We didn’t get to bed until about 2:30 on Christmas eve, and up at 7, so we were both beat! After a much needed snooze, we headed to my moms in Wisconsin with our dog, Opie. Mom has a Great Dane, Bella, who Opie has a blast with. Those two play like crazy!

Opie, Bella, and my little brother. How do you like Opie’s Christmas sweater? lol

My handsome hubby and Bella

It has become tradition at moms, instead of a big Christmas meal, we all make appetizers and munchies instead. We eat our way though Christmas lol

It was a great day with my husband, mom, step-dad, brother, and cousins. It ended with us all playing Cards Against Humanity lol Lots of fun there!

The dogs taking a break after rough housing for a while…. they just laid like this for a good 5 minutes.

I wish I had more pictures of the day! Apparently I had dog brain lol

My biggest and most special gift of the day… SIGH My husband made me an AMAZING craft table. I knew he was working on it, I saw pieces of it before I was banished from the basement, but he went so far above and beyond. 12 feet long, 5 feet wide, with places for 6 crafters. There is even electrical outlets at each station!

I will have pictures of it shortly, along with the craft room my husband built for me last Christmas. I might need to clean it up a bit first. I have been glued in there since Sunday working on a few things.

Hope everyone had an amazing holiday!!!!!

Pillowbox Die!

Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas! I am prescheduling this post, so my Christmas hasn’t happened yet 😉 But I know without a doubt that it was wonderful!!!!

Just wanted to share my little gift for my coworkers. Nothing fancy or too special, but handmade 100% with love (except the one for that one woman… then it was about 75% love lol KIDDING! Kinda…).

Square Pillowbox

I die cut all of the DSP using our square pillowbox die (retiring and sold out, as of right now. SIGH Love this die!). Cut out the ornaments using gold paper as well as gold glimmer paper. The sentiment is from the same stamp set as the ornaments. Trimmed the white cardstock with our triple banner punch (LOVE that thing!).

Can I just take a moment to profess my love for the Big Shot Die Brush? It will be released on Jan. 5th, and it cut the amount of time it took to die cut those ornaments by 3/4 at least! I didn’t need to sit there and pop out the negatives of all of the ornaments. Just rolled over it with the die brush a time or two and everything popped out cleanly with very little effort. Perfect for intricate dies!

It took about 3-4 hours to make these, I just watched some of season 5 of Downton Abby (Anyone else anxious for the final season? Next month!!) and the time flew by. Things like this are so simple to do assembly line style.

Sorry for the the cruddy picture. Remember I said that I wasn’t allowed into my craft room and I brought a box of stuff upstairs with me? I was working in the dining room, where we have great lighting for dinner parties, not so much for crafting lol

Products used are listed below (with the exception of the retired/out of stock Designer Series Paper… sorry!)

December Paper Pumpkin!

Hi again!

Just a quickie, but I wanted to share 🙂 I received my December Paper Pumpkin Monday, and WOW! I can’t wait to play with it. It is going to have to wait until after the holiday though.

I thought that I would share a great video Stampin’ Up made using this months Paper Pumpkin.

How fun is that?????

For those that haven’t heard of Paper Pumpkin, it is a great monthly kit that arrives at your doorstep around the middle of the month. It contains everything needed to create! It comes in a cute little box, filled with an exclusive stamp set, an ink spot to coordinate with the kit, paper, embellishments, adhesive, and more. It is intended to give you at least 30 minutes of stress free play time each month. With your first box you will even receive an acrylic block!

For those that join, you will have access to past months full kits (in case you missed one that you have to have!) as well as refills for the kits. The refills contain everything except for the ink spot and the stamp sets.

There is also a great Facebook group that has been set up that showcases alternate uses for the kits. Lets face it, Stampin’ Up can’t get it right for 100% of the people 100% of the time. There are a TON of ideas each month for different projects to make using each months kit.

This is a great value and I look forward to it each month. It is a guarantee that I get some time to play, that I will create something fun, and I won’t need to think about a thing to do so! Perfect *me* time!

Merry Christmas!

Happy Monday all! Sooo… is everyone ready for Christmas? I am getting there, but still feel like I have a “to-do” list a mile long- get out the last of the Christmas cards, make cookies, wrap presents, clean, get ready for hosting Christmas Eve, and the list goes on. My husband and I have a ton of packages coming from Amazon still, thank God for Amazon Prime!!!

But I am excited for all of it! I love the opportunity to spend time with our families. On Thanksgiving, some sides of the family are elsewhere. But at Christmas, everyone comes together. I can.not. wait!

I am sorry the blog has been so quiet for the last few weeks. I spent almost 2 straight weeks sick. I was miserable, and had to let some things go for the moment, the blog was one of them. I will be taking this week off as well, but will be back either late next week or New Years 🙂

A big part of that reason? My incredible husband has kicked me out of my craft room, for the 2nd Christmas in a row. Can you believe him?? Well, I should explain why.

Last Christmas, he spent almost 3 months ripping apart part of our basement, down to the studs, and rebuilding it. He created me the most amazing craft room. Seriously, it makes me smile just walking in there. This Christmas? He is building me a HUGE craft table. I can’t wait to see it completed! I have seen part of it and it is beautiful. But starting today I am no longer allowed in the basement. So last night I loaded up a box with my Big Shot, some dies, adhesives, paper, etc and brought it upstairs. Within 15 minutes our dining room table was a mess lol But this way I can finish some little goodies for my coworkers 🙂

I will share pictures of my craft room and new table after the first of the year.

Until then, have a fantastic holiday!!!! Be safe, eat lots of yummy food (forget the diet!), and enjoy those you love the most.

OMG the glitter!!

Just a quick post tonight. I need to get my butt into bed. Tomorrow my husband and I will be volunteering for Operation North Pole, a phenomenal non for profit organization that gives a day of fun to children battling life threatening or terminal illness and their families. It’s one day that they all get to forget their worries and have a wonderful time as a family. For many, this will be their last Christmas, so we try to make it as special as possible. Santa and his elves will be there, piles of presents, games, crafts, and mountains of candy. We have received over 6,000 pounds of donated candy! My husband and I will be part of their Lollipop Lane, helping the children get as much candy as their arms can hold. We can not wait!

Tonight though, I was busy work on a swap. I signed up for too many, once again. When will I learn? I just love getting samples for my demo boards!

I die cut 16 of these beautiful hearts, using not only our new Glimmer paper in Blushing Bride, but also a new die. See that tool on the left?  That’s new too! You roll it over the back of dies, especially intricate ones, and it helps remove all of those pesky tiny pieces that always get stick in your die. It made cutting these out a breeze!

Here is a close up of it…

And of the die and that gorgeous glimmer paper…

Stunning right?

Now, let’s address that glitter. Working with glitter like this stinks, no two ways about it. Our dog even has glitter on him! I’ve showered since cutting these out tonight, and I just saw a piece of pink glitter on my arm :-/ There is a reason it’s called the herpes of the craft world!

There is an easy way to clean it up, at least most of it though! Swifter clothes! The kind you use on the bottom of a Swiffer sweeper. Those clothes catch so much glitter (or embossing power, don’t ask how I know lol). I keep a box in my craft room and go to it more often than I’d like to admit.

That’s it for now! Have a wonderful weekend!

Another Sneak Peek?

Good morning! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I sure did. My birthday is coming up, and my amazing husband surprised me with a trip into Chicago for the day. We had a wonderful day, but the best part of the surprise was tickets to see The Lion King. It was phenomenal! I had been wanting to see it for years, and it didn’t disappoint.

I have been fighting a cold for a week or so now, and when I woke up yesterday, man it hit, and hit HARD. Slept most of the day, with a quick trip to the doctor squeezed in there. The best way to tell that I’m really sick? My Stampin’ Up preorder came. I didn’t even open the box, just put it on the counter and crawled back into bed.

But… Late last night I had enough of sleeping. I opened the box of goodies. And what goodies they are! I only played for 45 min or so, but long enough to show you a few things.

I love this stamp! Just a quick card. I stamped it on watercolor paper and heat embossed using white embossing powder. Then colored it in using Real Red and Garden Green inks, using my aqua painter. Easy way to get the water color look! Die cut the sentiment (colored with Delightful Daffadil) and adhered it using dimensionals. See the slight sparkle on the rose petals? That was done using Wink of Stella. I’m so excited we are going to be carrying it now (in clear and gold). It’s an amazing product that give just a slight sparkle with no mess!

See these die cuts?

These were made with the coordinating thinlits, the whole reason I was so excited for this bundle. The rose die cuts above are as big as my hand! I can’t wait to play more with these. I just cut one out of black card stock, the other out of watercolor paper, then painted it using the same technique as above.

This is is the beautiful stamp set. So many lovely sentiments.

Then I played with a Sell-A-Bration set. Starting January 5th, for every $50 you spend, you can choose an item from our Sell-Bration catalog for free! This is one of the stamps sets in there.

I didnt do much with it, just stamped some of the images, then “watercolored” them using a variety of Stampin’ Up inks.

Look closely, the butterfly has Wink of Stella on its wings 🙂

I ran out of steam before I could turn this into a card, but it won’t be difficult. This stamp set makes for some beautiful cards that come together so easily.

That’s all for now. Hope everyone has a great day!
