Quick Video!

Good morning (again!)

Stampin’ Up released a really interesting video last night that I thought you guys might enjoy as well.

It is focusing on using the You’re So Lovely project kit. BUT… you don’t need the kit to implement the ideas!

The video shows us how to make 3 different kinds of treat packaging from 3 different items: a glassine bag, a card base, and an envelope! COOL!

Enjoy!

Hello Sweet Friend!

Good morning!

Hope your week is going well!

Continuing my retiring stamp theme, today’s card uses Flowering Flourishes and Six-Sided Sampler.

Simple simple simple card!

20160423_202027.jpg

What’cha think?

The card base is actually vellum, trimmed to be a top folding A2 card. A piece of Whisper White cardstock was trimmed on an angle, then adhered to the front panel of the vellum.

A matching piece of vellum was trimmed and adhered to the inside of the front panel as well to cover up the adhesive and give a more finished look.

Inside is a striped piece of DSP, from the Timeless Elegance pack. The stripes actually go straight up and down (or left to right!), but I trimmed it at an angle for some visual interest. I adhered another piece of Whisper White to the back of the card, to again cover up the adhesive from the inside panel.

I love this look!

This card came together in a snap!

A few Rhinestones placed here and there to add some flash to the stamped image, then a simple sentiment in the lower right corner completes it!

Here is an extreme side view so you can see a bit more of how it was completed…

There you have it!

Have a great day! See you tomorrow with another card from a retiring stamp set 🙂

Amazing Birthday!

Happy Hump Day!!!!

I am so thankful that the week is half over! I need to stop wishing my life away, but really, I just wish work away lol

Today I have a simple card that packs a punch!

Amazing Birthday is retiring. At first I wasn’t too disappointed, honestly I have only used this set a handful of times over the past year.

Then I started playing with it. WHY had I not used it more? I love it!

Untitled-12

Cute, versatile, and fun right?

This is what I came up with…

20160423_201943.jpg

The main image was masked (with Post-It tape) directly on the rubber stamp, first over “Today” and “Amazing”. I inked it up with Tuxedo Black, removed the masks, then stamped it onto a piece of Whisper White.

I then masked over all of the stamp, except for “Today” and “Amazing”, inked it up with Tangelo Twist, removed the mask, then stamped the image again over the first stamped image.

Sounds complicated, but so simple! This way your image goes from being just a simple, one color image, to being super special.

I took it one stop further at that point. I inked up the stamp again, focusing on just the “Amazing” portion of the stamp, then stamped it on a scrap piece of Whisper White. I trimmed it out carefully, then adhered it over the original portion of the stamp using dimensionals.

You might be able to see the dimension better here

20160423_201858.jpg

The stamped image has two little dots, one on either side of the “Amazing” portion of sentiment. I took the opportunity to add a brad over each of the dots. These brads are being discontinued as well 😦

The was just trimmed out, mounted on some Tangelo Twist and Wild Wasabi cardstock. Easy peasy!

*Note: The Basic Black Chevron Ribbon was on the clearance list… last I heard it was VERY close to being sold out. If you want it, check there for it. If it isn’t listed, it is gone 😦

If you have any questions, let me know!

See you tomorrow!

Apple of My Eye!

Good morning!

Starting today, through Friday, I will be sharing a card or project made using only retired stamp sets and accessories (when available). I did 3 of them this past Saturday and had so much fun!

These will be simple posts, with pretty simple cards. I thought that it might be nice to have something available that doesn’t require too many steps, that you can duplicate easily when you are stumped or just want to create without having to think.

Ready to see a fun card I made with the retiring Apple of My Eye set?

20160423_211803.jpg

I really like this one!! Very simple, took about 15 minutes, and is a sweet card.

The cherries are punched out with the 1/2″ circle punch, then popped up with dimensionals.

I do have to admit though, I was impatient. See the glossy little cherries? Well, I covered them with Crystal Effects (also retiring!!!! Booo….) when I was done with the card, to give the card a little something extra. Then I immediately took the card to take a few photos for the blog, hoping that I could do it quick enough even though the Crystal Effects wasn’t really set (at all). I took one photo, and thank God I zoomed in to check the color, I was thisclose to having it drip all over the front of the card. Oops! I should have saved the photo to show you guys the two drips coming off of the cherries lol

All turned out well though, I laid the card flat for the rest of the photos and the Crystal Effects evened back out.

All products used listed below. Keep in mind the stamp set and the Crystal Effects are retiring, so quantities are limited!

Have a great day!

Treat for you!

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend. We sure did. The weather this weekend was amazing! Slept with the windows open from Friday night through last night (had to close them this morning, expecting a storm later today…). Saturday my mom was over all afternoon to craft, Sunday my husband got all of our patio furniture out. Our deck isn’t bare anymore! We decided since the grill was out we would BBQ for dinner, so we had my in-laws over for dinner and cards as well. It was SO nice!

I am sorry that the blog went silent last week. I had so much going on, that something had to give. Unfortunately, the blog was it.

But I am back! I promise!! Forgive me?

I was busy Saturday coming up with fun (I hope!) cards to share this week. But today I wanted to share a card my mom made while at my house Saturday evening. She found a YouTube tutorial (will link it below), and followed it, while still making it her own.

20160423_212136.jpg

So pretty right?!?!?!

That moon is just stunning. The perfect winter scene!

This is the tutorial that mom used for her masterpiece…

I don’t know if you can tell from moms card, but the whole thing is coated with a fine layer of Dazzling Diamonds. It makes the card so soft and pretty, and completely reminds me of a warm mountain winter scene 🙂

I love crafting with my mom (and my mother in law! Lucky lucky me!!!!), and always look forward to one or both coming over to play 🙂

Now our dog Opie… he looks forward to Grandma coming over to play too. Why? Because my mom usually brings her dog, Bella, with. Opie and Bella are BFFs. They know each others names and get excited when you tell them that the other is coming over.

Opie was outside a few minutes before mom was expected, lounging in the sun. He did NOT want to come in. I told him that Bella was coming, and he flew to the backdoor, ran in through the kitchen and hallway  to the foyer, and sat at the door waiting for Bella. As soon as he saw mom’s car he got all excited!

Here is Bella in my craft room Sat evening…

20160423_201917

See my new air compressor on the shelf? My husband bought me a new airbrush system. I can’t wait to get the chance to play with it!

She is a BIG girl, a 3 year old Great Dane. So funny to see her with my Opie, who I never considered a small dog! But the two of them play so well together 🙂

In the background you can see the teal blanket on the floor. We had to spread it way out. Why? Well… that is Opie’s blanket. He gets a bit pouty when he has to share (typical only “child”). Bella was sprawled out on it, but as long as Opie had at least a corner to sit on he was happy lol

You can see the love here 🙂

Anyway, I will be back tomorrow. I have some cards using only retired products to share with you this week. Hopefully it will give you some ideas on what to do with items that you currently have, or items from the retired list that you are on the fence about.

Have a great day!!!!

Good morning!

Have you had a chance to look at the Retiring Products yet? Wow… there are some *great* items on that list. Some surprises for sure.

To make things a bit easier on you, listed below are the Retiring Product list in both Excel and PDF format.

Retiring Product List- PDF

Retiring Product List- Excel

I personally prefer the Excel list. So easy to manipulate, making it easy for me to sort it and makes notes.

Make sure you check the website every few days, more items will be discounted as we get closer to the end, May 31st.

Now I have to admit, I was a bit dismayed over some of the items being retired. BUT… I finally got a look at the new 2016-2017 Stampin’ Up Catalog yesterday.

Wow… seriously, big WOW! I can see why so much is being retired, and ya know, I don’t mind one bit now! The new catalog is worth it. I promise! I honestly feel this is the best Stampin’ Up Catalog in years. The variety of products is wonderful!!!!

Now my wallet on the other hand is shaking a bit. I made a quick wish list last night of items that I would like from the new catalog. Just from the items I really really really want, the list is over $750. Ouch. I think that I will be ordering a little at a time lol

On that note, I found this a few weeks ago and wanted to share it. I giggled when I first read it. Completely accurate, right?

Happy Birthday! (and a bit of playing)

Happy Hump Day!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

So, last night I went down to my craft room to finish cleaning up from the class I hosted on Saturday. Even with that great big table my husband built me, I still manage to turn it into a giant mess lol

I think I spent about 5 minutes cleaning. Oops… that ever happen to you? You have great intentions to clean, organize, etc, but then you pick up something and inspiration strikes!

That is what happened to me. I had out my Bird Builder punch, picked it up to put it away and I had an idea….

20160412_222710.jpg

I wanted to create a background with the branch from the punch. So I sat back down, and punched out a bunch of the branches from scraps of Crumb Cake cardstock. I started adhering them down onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, in no particular pattern.

I loved the way that it looked! But it needed something…. I then grabbed my Itty Bitty Flower punch (from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch pack) and punched out a bunch of flowers from a scrap of Pink Pirouette. I adhered some down in a random pattern over the branches. There we go! The panel was then adhered to an A2 card in Crumb Cake.

Vellum was cut to fit over the top of the card, I thought that it would be good to soften the busy background, then I punched a hole through the top of the vellum, the white panel, and the front of the card. A piece of Whisper White 5/8 Organza ribbon was threaded through the holes and tied in a knot.

The birds were stamped using Versamark and Flowering Flourishes (the wings) and First Sight (body of the birds). They were adhered to the vellum, along with a few more flowers. I added a few Pearls to the flowers as well.

Then…. crud, I remembered that I forgot to stamp the sentiment before adhering it all together. I could have taken it all apart, but I was lazy last night lol I put a few pieces of cardstock scraps under the vellum, the give me a (hopefully) smooth base to stamp on. It worked for the most part! I stamped the sentiment (from the Butterfly Basics set) using StazOn.

At this point, I decided I needed to be done. The card is busy enough, hopefully not toooo busy though! It is certainty not my usual style, but I really like it!

Weekly Deals April 12th- April 18th

Weekly Deals 2

Well, this is it! The last week of Weekly Deals. And holy crud, there are a bunch of them!

Check them out below…

Sorry that the blog was pretty quiet last week. It was just a CRAZY week for me. On top of everything I was getting ready for a class that I hosted on Saturday. Lots of fun 🙂 So most of my free time that I use to create for the blog was spent creating for the class, then putting together the class kits.

It ended up being a great class though (at least I think so!) and we all had a good time. Hopefully the ladies that were there learned a few fun things to use again on their own. I will share what was made in a few days.

On that note though, I promise to not be as quiet this week! Look for a new project idea Wed or Thursday.

Have a great day!

Weekly Deals April 5th- 12th! NEWS!!!

Weekly Deals 1

Good morning!

So, we have news from the home office. They are going in a different direction with the Weekly Deals. April 12th will be the last week of deals (ending April 18th.)

The Weekly Deals was started to help alleviate Stampin’ Up’s overstock issues. Since the overstock issues have been handled there the Weekly Deals have been less exciting than they once were.

So instead of Weekly Deals, we will now be offering Special Offers. They will be once every few months. And they will be SPECIAL. Stampin’ Up promises that 🙂

Onto this weeks Weekly Deals!

Holy crud… there is quite the list this week!!! They are sure making the most of these last two weeks! Take a peek at a few ideas using the Weekly Deals after the items.

Now, this one uses the coordinating stamp set (heat embossed in white then watercolored), but the sentiment uses one of the Thinlits in the set.

Fun right?

Let me know if you have any questions!

Have a great day!!!
