Bunch of Blossoms- Thank You

Good morning!

I hope that everyone has had a great week so far!

On Saturday it rained. And rained and rained and rained. We needed it horribly, but not quite to the extent that we received it. Unfortunately, our power went out for about 6 hours. I was out for the day and my husband was at work. I came home to a dark house, never a good sign. Went to the basement (where my stamp room is), to find water… NOT a good feeling at all, especially since your very favorite room of the house is down there. Since the power was off for so long, our sump pump wasn’t able to keep up.

Thanks to my in-laws and our fantastic neighbors, we were able to get the majority of the water cleaned up before the power came on 2 hours later. Then it was just a matter of using the shop-vac to suck up the remaining water. It was a mess, but it could have been SO much worse! Thankfully neither my husband nor I had much on the floor in either of our rooms down there (Check them out HERE).

I know that we lost the rugs, our dogs bed that I made for him, some misc boxes… not sure what else yet. A remediation company came over on Monday and checked things out, leaving us with 8 huge fans (sounds like an airplane is taking off in our basement!) and an industrial dehumidifier. They will be back today to check on the progress of things drying off. Hopefully we will know in a day or two what will need to be taken down (fingers crossed no walls…) and what is ok.

If all goes well, I am REALLY hoping that this weekend we will be able to get down there and start putting things in order.

So hopefully you can understand if I don’t post on Friday, and possibly not on Monday.

Thankfully, I had the following card in my stash to be posted soon. I figured that today was as good of a day as any!

I didn’t think that I would love this bundle as much as I do. I am not really the girly-girl type typically, and don’t usually gravitate toward florals. But after using it a few times, I know that I am going to be reaching for it often!

Ingredients listed at the end of the post

So bright and cheery!

I used one of the dies from the Detailed Floral Thinlits to cut out the flowers, then used the coordinating edgelit to giving it a pretty finished edge.

The flowers were stamped using Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach, and Watermelon Wonder, with the leaves done in Mint Macaron. I wanted to keep the flowers soft, and since these are 2 step stamps, it was  simple! I stamped off onto a piece of scratch paper for the lighter color, then I stamped at full strength for the darker color. I did that on all of the pieces. Simple but effective I think!

Then it was just a matter of assembling the card. Start to finish, think this took me about 45 minutes, so not too bad!

Please me know if you have any questions. Otherwise I will see you back next week!

(Oh… and we are looking for a backup system for our sump. No more flooding allowed!)

Bunch of Blossoms

Good morning!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Have you seen the Bunch of Blossoms bundle available in our new Annual Catalog? If you love flowers, you will love this one!

Great right?!?!

I had fun playing with this bundle a few days ago, and came up with the following card.

Ingredients for this card are listed at the end of the post

Simple, but I am really happy with this one!

The Fleur de Lis-ish image from the Timeless Textures set was inked up with Smokey Slate, then stamped off once before stamping onto the card panel. That way it came off as a bit softer than if I used it full strength.

I know, this is the second time in a week that I have used that sentiment. But I adore it! Such a sweet sentiment!

See the little yellow bit in the center of the flower? That is a thinlit from the Botanical Builders set. I thought that little bit was perfect there.

It is hard to see, but I rounded the edge of each petal with my bone folder before adhering each down to give it some dimension. You can see that a bit better in the image below.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Have a great day!!!!

Thoughtful Branches… take 3!

It is FRIDAY!!! Yahoo!

Just a quickie for you guys today.

You would think I would get sick of this bundle, but nope! Thoughtful Branches will be used by me often, even after it isn’t available any longer! Totally versatile! I can’t wait to make some fall cards with it!!

For now, I made a quick Thank You card to share with you all.

This came together so easily!

The leaves are done in the same color, Old Olive. I inked up my stamp first then stamped it off onto a scrap piece of paper before stamping it on my panel. I rotated the stamp 180 degrees, then stamped it again with Old Olive (without stamping it off). Gives a nice variegation to the colors this way, as well as it taking almost no time at all to do!

The grass under the tree was done the same way 🙂

I know that I mentioned it before, but I will say it again… I love that the bundle comes with birds facing in the opposite direction for both the stamps and the dies!

Just a reminder, you have 10 more days to get your orders in to earn a $5 Bonus Days coupon with every $50 you spend. The coupons can be redeemed in August (Maybe put them towards the Thoughtful Branches bundle? Just an idea!).

Have a wonderful weekend!

Thoughtful Branches… Take 2!

Good morning!

I tell you, I am having SO much fun with this bundle! I REALLY hope the powers that be at Stampin’ UP decide to keep it around!

When Stampin’ Up first announced this bundle to the demonstrators, they included a few samples for us to see it being used. I admit, I completely CASE’d (Copy And Share Everything!) this card. But this card is one of the reasons that I had to get this set!

Ingredients for this card are listed at the end of the post

This is such a simple card, but I think striking on its own.

It is hard to see, but in the background there are 3 trees (stamped twice for a total of 6 trees) stamped with Versamark, then embossed with White Embossing Powder.

The sentiment was heat embossed with our new Copper Embossing powder. The panel of the card was also wrapped with the new Copped Metallic Thread. Simple and lovely! \

If you swap out the sentiments to something Holiday related, this would be wonderful as a Holiday card!

Oh! And see that sweet little bird? There are two of them, facing in different directions. There are also two little bird dies, to make it easy! I love that they included the birds going in both directions. I get so frustrated when you have to use something facing in one direction only and 99% of the time it is in the wrong direction for what I am using it for!

The color is off on this one. I played with it a bit to get the white embossing on the background to show up 😉

Have a wonderful day!!

Thoughtful Branches

Good afternoon!

I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start! Once again, I need to apologize for the delay in today’s post. Comcast stinks… that should be explanation enough right? I started working on today’s post, and poof, the internet disappeared. It seems to be up and running now, so fingers crossed!

Last week I gave you a sneek peek of Thoughtful Branches. This is available for a limited time from Stampin’ Up from August 1st- August 31st (while supplies last). You can read more about it HERE.

I knew from the moment I saw the pictures that I would love this set, but when I got it in my hands yesterday I fell in love! This set is so versatile, I can see it being used for everything from a general Hello card, to birthday’s, to the holidays. Trust me, you will want this set! Make sure to click on the link above to view all of the dies and stamps in this bundle!

Now, my husband and I love hydrangeas. We used them in our wedding, and have numerous different types of hydrangea bushes around our house. I always get excited when they start budding! Not all are in bloom yet, the ones that receive the most sun are always the first to bloom.

The photos I took above are the first ones that have started blooming, taken last week.

Anyway, the reason for my hydrangea ramble… one of the dies in the Thoughtful Branches bundle makes for a beautiful hydrangea!

Ingredients for this card is listed at the bottom of this post

How perfect is that?

This card wasn’t a breeze to put together, but I love the look of it!

I started by grabbing a few sheets of watercolor paper, misted each with water, then started adding some ink to each using an aqua painter. I started with the lightest color, dried it, misted it again with water, then dabbed on the darker color. I wasn’t going for any sort of pattern, I wanted a variegated look.

Left: Pink Pirouette and Sweet Sugarplum.    Right: Sweet Sugarplum and Perfect Plum

See.. nothing special at all. In fact, pretty messy and scary looking! I also did the same with a 3rd piece of watercolor, in Old Olive. I planned on using the green piece for the stems and leaves.

I die cut two of the hydrangea blooms from each piece of cardstock. I ended up setting   aside the lighter ones, to use on another project. If you have the Precision Base Plate for the Big Shot, use it!!! It comes in handy big time for intricate dies like these.

After everything was watercolored and die cut, the card came together easily!

I stamped the flower/tiny leaves patter over each of the die cuts, using Perfect Plum. Since the stamps are Photopolymer, it makes it simple to line everything up.

I layered the pieces, flipping the top piece 180 degrees, to make the hydrangea bloom fuller. I brushed a thin coat of Clear Wink of Stella over the piece that I was using on top, then added the two smallest sizes of the Pearl Basic Jewels to the center of various blooms.

Once again, I am loving this bundle! We are hoping that it will also be available in either the Holiday catalog or the Occasions catalog.

If you have any questions, let me know in the comments or email me at InkItAll@yahoo.com.

See you tomorrow with another fun card using this bundle!

2 Cards, 30 minutes!

Good morning!

Whew! I am just getting my bearings after the long weekend my hubby and I took this past weekend. We flew to Boston early last Friday morning, and returned late Monday evening. We had a wonderful time!! A childhood friend of my husband turned 40 last week and his wife was throwing him a surprise birthday party on Saturday. I had never been to the East Coast, and we needed a mini-vacation, so we decided to head out for it. We had an amazing time, but wow… we didn’t stop!

I was pretty much brain dead Tues and Wed, but I wanted to play last night. I decided to keep it really simple.

Both of these cards were completed in about 30 minutes. That is a win in my book!

I trimmed a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 5.5in x 4.25″ (standard US card front size). Pulled out the Blomin’ Love stamp set, along with Sweet Sugarplum, Pink Pirouette, Emerald Envy, and Mint Macaron inks.  Then I just went to town, stamping the flowers in different colors. No method here! Just stamp away! After I was pleased with the coverage, I went back in with the tiny leaves from the stamp set, and filled in gaps with Emerald Envy.

I had another piece of Whisper White already trimmed to 5.5″ x 4.25″. I stacked the patterned piece on top of the solid piece, then trimmed both at the same time. This way I could be sure that all pieces would match, and I wouldn’t have to do any creative trimming later!

This one is on a Sweet Sugarplum card base, with a .5″ strip of coordinating cardstock. It is hard to tell, but I used some Wink of Stella in clear over the strip to give it a little shine.  The light picked up a bit of it, you can see it over the “E” in the sentiment. The patterned cardstock is set up on Dimensionals.

The sentiment is from Endless Thanks.

This one is on an Emerald Envy base, with the same in the accent strip. This also has Wink of Stella on it, I was a bit more heavy handed with it this time. You can really see it here! This card has the white panel up on Dimensionals.

The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Balloon Celebration.

Now, I could have done a whole lot with these cards to give them some extra “OOMPH!” But sometimes you just need to create something simple to clear out the creative cobwebs. This was perfect for me 🙂

If you have any questions, let me know!

Don’t forget Bonus Days! For every $50 you spend this month, you will get a coupon for $5 to use in August!

Have a great day!

Jar of Love

Good morning!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend!

Do you have the Jar of Love bundle yet?

This is proving to be one of the most popular bundles in the new Annual Catalog, and I have to say, I love it! I am totally on the bandwagon with this one. It is so much fun, and SO versatile!!!!

Last Wed I just wanted to play so Opie and I went to my craft room in the basement. I pulled out this bundle and got to playing.

I’m tickled with what I came up with.

Ingredients for this card are listed at the end of the post

Who doesn’t love receiving flowers on their birthday? 😉

All of the dies in the bundle make it a breeze to make sure each individual flower is cut out beautifully. No fussy cutting with this one!

I am so in love with our new Layering Squares Framelits (and Layering Circles, and Layering Ovals…). I adore that not only do you get the regular solid shape, you get scalloped ones as well, making layering so simple.

The sentiment is from the much loved Birthday Blooms stamp set. That was in our most recent Occasions catalog. It was loved so much Stampin’ Up carried over to the Annual catalog. I love it when that happens!

If you don’t have this bundle yet, now is a great time to think about it! Don’t forget about the Bonus Days! You earn one $5 coupon for each $50 purchase you make in the month of July, to use in August. This bundle is $54.00, earning you one coupon with just this one bundle. Score!!

See you Wednesday! Have a great day!

Crazy About You!

Good morning!

Sorry things have been quiet this week! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. Sunday we hosted a party at our house and had a great time! Lots of food & wonderful friends and family!

The party ran late, which made getting up Monday morning very difficult! My husband is the animal control office for a local police department, and participates in the 4th of July parade every year. Which means our dog and I do also!

It is always fun and I swear, our sweet Opie thinks that everyone is there just for him!

This was taken from his squad car during the parade… fun having a 55# dog on your lap for an hour! lol

You can see a few of the other volunteers, walking with their dogs behind the truck. They were handing out goodies with the animal control logo on them.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Opie, taken after last years parade. He was convinced he was the departments K-9 I think!

Anyway, onto the reason you are here!

I was in need of a birthday card and honestly… I was stuck a bit. So I started flipping through our Annual Catalog. Next to Pinterest, that is my biggest inspiration when I am having issues coming up with something fun.

But! Inspiration struck when I saw the samples created with the Crazy About You stamp set! I came up with this…

Ingredients for this card are listed at the end of the post

I love it! I hope the lovely lady receiving it does as well.

This card was a breeze to put together. The background flowers were stamped with Daffodil Delight and the leaves were done with Old Olive.

I stamped the larger flowers with Blushing Bride on a separate piece of Whisper White, then punched them out using the Flower Medallion punch.

The flowers were adhered down onto the panel with the background flowers and leaves. Then a scrap piece of Whisper White was adhered over it using Dimensionals. A small piece of Basic Black Solid Bakers Twine was knotted onto the side, completing the look.

Happy was die cut using our Hello You Thinlits dies. Birthday was stamped onto the panel as well (also from the Crazy About You set).

The panel was then mounted to a piece of Basic Black cardstock, then adhered to an A2 card in Old Olive.

I love how this card came together!

As usual, if you have any questions, please let me know!

Have a great day!
