Good morning! I hope that everyone enjoyed their long weekend.
We had a good weekend. Friday evening we went to a town nearby that was hosting a Hot Air Balloon festival. It was VERY neat to see all of the balloons! It was a touch too windy for them when the sun started to go down though, so the one that we saw take off while we were coming in was it.
But there were 8 other balloons that were on the ground. Occasionally a horn would go off, that notified the balloon operators that it was time to “light it up!”. The balloons would start glowing from the huge amounts of flame it takes to blow them up. Just beautiful!
Here is one of the (many) photos I took that evening…
You can see the one balloon in the front isn’t quite straight. That one had the most troubles staying upright in the wind, and they took it down shortly after.
Anyway! I had to create a birthday card and get it in the mail today. I had fun doing it!
I was excited to use the new Fancy Frost Specialty DSP.
It is white on white 12×12 cardstock with patterns dry embossed into it. So you take a sponge, brayer, etc to apply ink to the cardstock, and the images pop out at you. This set is beautiful. It has everything from vines, to stripes, to snowflakes, and more.
I sponged on Mint Macaron to get this beautiful background.
See how the raised images catch more ink, making them stand out? So pretty…
The delicate flowers are from the Touches of Texture set. I really need to use this set more. It is so neglected! The flowers were colored in using Perfect Plum with my Blender Pen. The leaves were also done using Mint Macaron. There is a touch of Daffodil Delight in the center of each flower as well.
The sentiment is from Balloon Celebration… another stamp set that is quite neglected in my craft room. I need to get it out to play more!
Everything was matted with Tip-Top Taupe &/or Whisper White. The two enamel dots are from the Royals collection, in Perfect Plum as well.
The whole thing is brought together with a simple white ribbon. I tried it out using a Perfect Plum ribbon, and thought that the clean white better set off the card.
It is really hard to see in the image, but I sponged a very light layer of Mint Macaron around the edges of everything Whisper White. That helped the white not to be SO bright against the background, and tied everything together perfectly.
I am so happy with this card. Perfectly sweet, just like the intended recipient of it 🙂
