Make a Medallion!

I hope that everyone had a fantastic weekend!

Now, last week I had the Make a Medallion in my hands and I wanted to play. Didn’t have much time, so just play I did!

Even for me, these are really simple. But I just wanted to get a bit inky before bed and didn’t have anything specific in mind.

What I ended up doing was stamping both of the medallion images with Versamark onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, then heat embossing with Crystal Clear ep.

I then inked up my Sponge Brayer with Sweet Sugarplum ink, and went over the Whisper White cardstock until it was covered.

*Tip- When doing this, don’t go over the same spot over and over. Vary the rolling, otherwise you will end up with lines. 

I used a piece of paper towel, and buffed off the image, removing the ink from the embossed image. I love this “embossed resist” technique!

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know that I have mentioned turning a dye based ink into one that can be heat embossed. Typically dye based inks (such as Stampin’ Ups, with the exception of the craft ink) dry too quickly to be heat embossed. But an easy trick solves this issue!

Just tap your stamp into Versamark BEFORE you tap it into your dye ink. It won’t ruin your dye ink, I promise!

Stamp it as usual, then sprinkle on your embossing powder, heat, and Viola! Your dye ink is now heat embossed!

That is exactly what I did for the Thanks, tapped it into Versamark, then Sweet Sugarplum ink. I used Clear ep to heat emboss it.

Fun idea right?

I applied the medallion to a card made with Sweet Sugarplum cardstock, and a 2.75″ x 5.5″ strip of Whisper White cardstock. I applied a piece of Stampin’ Up’s beautiful ruched Sweet Sugarplum ribbon under it. The medallion was adhered using Dimensionals.

Like I said, simple card, but it has a couple of fun techniques!
